STAR, Inc., Lighting the Way…is proud to announce the promotion of Dottie Jankowski to the position of Director of Family Support Services. Dottie resides in Wilton, CT, holds an undergraduate degree from Princeton University and master’s degrees from Columbia University in social work and public health. Dottie originally joined STAR in 2020 as an employment manager overseeing the day services and employment program at STAR’s New Canaan office. She brings a wealth of experience with individuals with I/DD and their families as well as experience collaborating with the CT Department of Developmental Services and local community organizations. She has a strong commitment to empowering and integrating individuals of all ages–especially high school graduates with disabilities as they enter the STAR program or pursue post graduate employment.
As the Director of Family Services, Dottie will play a vital role in providing guidance, support, and assistance to families and individuals of all ages as they navigate the transitions of life. She will assist families as their toddlers transition to school, and young adults as they transition into employment or other services provided by STAR. With her expertise, she aims to create a seamless and inclusive experience for families, children and young high school graduates, ensuring that they have the necessary resources and support to thrive and succeed. Dottie’s extensive background in the field of disabilities combined with her compassionate approach uniquely position her to make a meaningful impact on the lives of these families. Her primary focus will be on establishing strong relationships with families, listening to their concerns, and addressing their individual needs throughout life’s milestones and transitions.
