
Barry Bosworth
2nd Vice President
Barry is a retired Business Consultant, CPA and Chief Financial Officer for a middle market event services company. He is also past president of The ARC of Connecticut and The Corporation for Independent Living.
Barry lives in Wilton with his wife Judy (a dedicated STAR volunteer) and has three grown children; one of whom, Cat, happens to have Down syndrome and benefits from STAR Day Services and Residential Program.

Ed Piorkowski
Past President
Ed is the Executive Director, Global Firmwide Sourcing at Morgan Stanley. He has a degree in Business from the University of Connecticut School of Business.
Ed lives in Darien with his wife and daughter, Hope, who has received early childhood pediatric services through the STAR Rubino Family Center and attends Darien High School.

Shamain Johnson

A proud Connecticut native, Shamain Johnson is a dedicated leader committed to improving the lives of others through strategic human resources, education, and community engagement. She currently serves as the Director of Human Resources at CT Renaissance, where she plays a pivotal role in talent development, workforce planning, and fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace culture.
With 26 years of professional experience, including a distinguished career as a public educator specializing in special education, Shamain has consistently demonstrated a passion for empowering individuals and strengthening communities. Her expertise spans strategic HR leadership, employee development, and program management, ensuring organizations can effectively support and grow their teams. .
Previously, Shamain served as Director of Specialized Instruction at Bridgeport Public Schools, where she provided leadership and oversight for all special education programs and services, ensuring regulatory compliance and professional development for educators. As Chief Human Resources Officer for Greenwich Public Schools, she led transformative initiatives in teacher recruitment, diversity, and talent development, enhancing workforce engagement and retention. .
Beyond her work in education and HR, Shamain has been deeply involved in the nonprofit sector. As the Founder and former CEO of Girls Lead, Incorporated, she dedicated over a decade to empowering young women through leadership development and mentorship. Throughout her career, she has actively mentored youth in Bridgeport and led numerous community initiatives focused on education, leadership, and social impact. .
